About Us
The June Group is a creative strategy and engagement consultancy founded by Emma June Welsh-Huggins, a political strategist with over a decade of experience leading national campaigns, building movements, and turning bold ideas into lasting impact.
“June” was Emma’s great-grandmother Gigi’s middle name—one she proudly carries on. Though Gigi passed before Emma was born, their connection lives on through stories, resemblance, and sense of style. Today, that name powers The June Group’s approach: warm, focused, and elevated.
Emma has led digital and organizing strategy for some of the most influential campaigns and organizations in the country—from Elizabeth Warren’s presidential bid to Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote. As Director of Mobilization at Civic Nation, she oversaw national initiatives, including National Run for Office Day and a series of voter engagement sweepstakes that drew millions into the democratic process.
Today, The June Group works across political, nonprofit, and creative sectors—helping clients build strategy, shape stories, and execute campaigns that move people. We lead with intention, deliver with clarity, and bring ambitious ideas to life with a sharp eye and steady hand.
Emma is also the co-founder of Nontoxic Media, a media and technology company helping Democrats and progressive movements engage more effectively with emerging platforms. You can learn more about Nontoxic and their flagship tool, Sonar, here.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Emma now lives in New Orleans with her cat, Theo. Outside of work, she enjoys collaging (@wooshmakes), running, and cooking.
Emma’s great-grandmother, Gigi (Marion June), is shown above with her older sister, Sarah Joy. Although Emma never knew Gigi, she heard stories about her high-heeled wearing middle namesake from a young age.
